LIBRARY POLICIES: Students will find that the library's book collection and its networked computer lab address their academic and recreational needs. The design of the facility, the academic atmosphere, and the focus on literacy, support the curriculum and state standards. Access to computer services encourage and support students and staff in their literary pursuits and academic progress. Library staff is always willing to listen and provide assistance whenever needed.

Book Checkout – 1 book for one month + one additional month renewal
In order to provide fair and equitable access and to promote responsible use of resources, most students may check out two book at a time. Students who have a history of late returns may not be allowed to check out a library book and will be given the option to select a free book. Readers with a proven track record of responsible returns can check out 2 books at a time. Check-out period is 1 month with one more month for renewal if no one has put a hold on the book. Students are expected to return or renew books on or before the due date to adhere to school expectations of Community, Integrity, Honor and Social Responsibility (CIHS!)
Printer – In order to provide equal and fair access to all students and avoid waste of school resources, printing is for school purposes only – 5 cents per page, 10 page limit per day.
Copy Machine – 15 cents per page
The copy machine is located near the front door of the library. Copies can be made for 15 cents a copy. The machine will give change for dollar bills and quarters.

Library Rules - Work quietly on school assignments, no goofing around and no eating!
- Environment - Honor the educational environment of the library by working quietly and consistently.
- Classes - Entire classes utilizing the library must be in a seating chart to create an educational environment that supports student success.
- Computers - No video games, TV shows or movies unless for a class assignment. Do not rearrange keyboard keys, disconnect cables or interfere with another student's computer. All students must have a valid Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) authorization on file with the school in order to use computers.
- Food - No candy, food, gum or drink allowed.
- Passes - A library pass, signed by the teacher, with student names, ID#s, date, time and assignment must be presented when arriving during class time. A maximum of 4 students per class may be sent to the library each period. Students who have overdue library and/or textbooks will be sent back to class.
- Rules - Failure to follow library and school rules and procedures may result in loss of library privileges.
- Sign in - During class time, lunch and after school, students must sign-in at the front counter with their school ID# in order to use the library
- Sign Out of the computer before you leave, push in your chair and leave your work space neat and clean!

- The printing of school-related materials is 5 cents per page after the first page which is free.
- Printing for personal use or directly from the internet is not allowed. Students must copy and paste text from the Internet into a word document before printing.
- Every attempt should be made to limit the number of unnecessary pages used to print documents through editing and printing pages back to back. Save documents to the web instead of printing whenever possible.
- PowerPoint presentations may be printed 6 slides per page only.
- The printing limit is 10 pages per day per student.
- Students are expected to request permission from library staff prior to printing.
